• Beautifully detailed, large and heavy, statue of Hercules (Heracles) as a baby killing the two snakes.  He was one of the most important and most beloved of the Greek legendary heroes. 

• This statue is hand made in Staffordshire, England from bonded Italian marble.  It is made from 96% marble which means it is cold and firm to the touch, as marble should be.  It also means that it is just as suitable for display outside as it is in any room.  Being hand made, means they are only made in limited numbers and so are very collectable. The detail is superb and these items are often mistaken for art works of great age.

The History behind the piece

Hercules was the son of the supreme deity Zeus and a mortal woman.  Zeus's queen Hera was jealous of Hercules.  When he was just 8 months old, he was placed in his crib with his twin brother to sleep.  Hera sent two snakes to kill them both, but Hercules killed the snakes, one with is left hand and one with his right.  Such was his strength even as a baby.
