Studying the Great World War helps us to focus on the truly horrific consequences of global conflict. The spped at which events escalated and the complete failure of diplomacy to avoid a war in the first place, are valuable lessons for politicians and world leaders today.

Equally important each year, as we lose the few remaining veterans of this terrible war, is the act of remembrance. Wearing your poppy helps us all to remember the sacrifices made by our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers. Not forgetting the wounded, brave women and children who had their lives changed forever, with the loss of their loved ones. Many were never seen again after they left home to serve their country.

The work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Royal British Legion and numerous other organisations helps to raise awareness of the huge debt of gratitude we all owe our war for your tomorrow we gave our today".
